How to Walk the Nose

Channel Islands rider Ian Grotton on the Channel Islands Noserider, 37″

Channel Islands has shaped the standard in surfboards for decades. The Channel Islands Noserider, 37″, goes the other way. Long, deliberate, built to walk. We brought that shape to pavement and handed it to Channel Islands rider Ian Grotton.

Ian’s surfing inspires us. The way he cross steps, holds his line, and stays smooth is exactly how this board wants to be ridden. So we filmed him surfing and skating, side by side. It is the clearest way to show what the Noserider is for.

The Technique

What Ian Works Through

The shape does the work. A pulled-in concave nose keeps the swing weight low and the board under your feet. The wide square tail gives you a back-foot pocket and clean pivot turns. At 37″ with a 21.25″ wheelbase, it draws long lines and rewards smooth footwork.

Watch where Ian sets his back foot, how his weight crosses the deck, and when he steps to the nose. Then find a quiet stretch of pavement and put in the reps.
